`illegal afters tracks` is proud to welcome the return of the inimitable Sketch Artist for illegal afters 04.

To follow up his debut on 2020’s illegal afters 01, Sketch Artist brings us another diverse pack of weirdo tunes for the home and the dancefloor. These tracks are an idiosyncratic fusion of acid, electro, and jazz that shock and surprise you with each twist.

“Silver Oxide” drifts open as if waking up from a dancefloor dream. The rhythm kicks in stiltedly, rousing you with breakbeats and bass drums until a smooth acid bassline arrives and continues repetitively as you melt back into your reverie.

“U Can Have Whatever U Want” is a loopy underwater electro slammer. An unceasing vocal repeats the track title beckoningly as arpeggios swim organically around the chords.

In contrast with the first two tracks, “Titrating” blasts open with a manic 303 that progresses to be slowly overtaken by washes of delays and distorted voices.

“Turboprop Patterns” ratchets up the intensity with a breakbeat/electro/techno hybrid that is as propulsive as the name suggests. Sketch Artist bends a mutant “Think” break around distorted techno tones as if they were always meant to be.

“ME” is a breakbeat acid jazz masterpiece that we’re proud to release. Featuring Aaron Otheim on Rhodes and Sketch Artist himself on sax, it’s true to itself and the spirit of `illegal afters tracks`.
